We have a great card at Racing HQ today, so we have reviewed a couple of the big races below.
3:00 Newmarket - This race is a Class 4 handicap to be run over 6 furlongs and the two horses of interest here are: GREAT NEWS (7/2) and DESERT GULF (11/1). The former horse is having his first run since being gelded. He’s also taking a drop back in trip and on the limited evidence we’ve seen, we think it will suit him. He’s a horse with plenty of early zip and a high cruising speed, which are valuable assets for any potential sprinter and I think the likes of OPERATIC and WALLS OF KANO should give him a good tow into the race. The other horse on our shortlist is DESERT GULF and he ran a lot better than his finishing position would suggest at Ascot on his last start. Unfortunately, we only have 2 places on offer here which hinders each way bets but if you can take an extra place with Bet365, he’s worth ago at any price around 10/1. Ultimately, I’m not surprised that AKKERINGA has been popular in the betting but I think our two shortlist horses offer a viable alternative, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see either of them win.
4:10 Newmarket - This race is a Class 2 handicap to be run over 7 furlongs and as you’d expect, it’s ultra competitive! The current favourite is AMETIST who comes into this race seeking a forth win in a row. He obviously deserves the upmost respect and Tom Marquand has been very complimentary about his chances but the horse I want to side with here is, FOX CHAMPION (7/2). It must be said that I am not the biggest fan of SDS but this horse is in great form at home and you can rule a line through his last run as he was on the wrong side of the draw. This race looks to be absolutely perfect for him and whilst we do have plenty of dangers (AMETIST, ON A SESSION + KIMIFIVE), I think that FOX CHAMPION will give us a major run for our money!
5:20 Newmarket - We finish the card with a 5 furlong handicap and we have a strong fancy here in the shape of, LOMU. I was impressed by his last run on seasonal debut and I’m sure he’ll come on massively for it. Whilst this track wouldn’t be the perfect pairing for him, he gets his ground, he’s in the right class of race, and for me a quick turn around for a sprinter is always a positive. He’s currently sitting at 4/1 in the betting but I’ve personally played him Insured 2 places at 3/1 and I think that bet offers plenty of value!
So that concludes our review of Newmarket today. We also have a potential INFO bet lined up for this afternoon so if you’re not already in our free telegram group then just go to our INSIDE INFO page on the website and click the link!
