Time allowing, we are going to be posting a daily blog covering some key stats and trends for some of the day's runners in the UK and Ireland. Please read the stats carefully as not all of them will be positive!
Stat 1 - The spring sprint division can be very competitive affairs for the juveniles and if you're going to win races, you need to be sharp, well drilled and speedy. One trainer who excels with his sprinting juveniles is Clive Cox. Since 2015, he's sent out 15 juveniles in novice sprint company in the spring with Kirby booked, and has managed to bag himself 7 winners and 3 places. The horse of interest today is KAASIB (2/1) who runs in the 2:15 at Windsor.
Stat 2 - Trainers are creatures of habit and Mick Channon certainly has a habit of targeting 6 furlongs handicap sprints at Windsor. Since 2015, Mick has entered 37 horses in such races and has walked away with 8 wins and 4 places. He is particularly deadly with four year olds who have accounted for 5 of the 8 wins. The horse of interest today is SMEATON LIGHT (16/1) who runs in the 2:50 at Windsor.
Stat 3 - We all know how talented Charlie Appleby is as a trainer but his three year olds in particular are nearly always precocious types. If we look at his three year old novices on the turf in isolation, we see a level stakes profit and a 35% win rate. If we then filter the runners further to only include male favourites, we maintain the level stakes profit but improve the win strike rate to 62.5%. The horse of interest today is TRUE ACCOLADE (11/8) who runs in the 4:20 at Windsor.
Today's stat attack runners finish 2nd and 1st (one NR). Still not sure how Kirby failed to win on Kaasib!
